Franziska Pierwoss works as an artist through performance and installation. She creates solo and collaborative projects around food systems and waste management as both political symbols and materials that can be instrumentalised within social and financial spheres. As a transformation manager, she gives workshops on the implementation of ecological sustainability. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig and at the Lebanese University of Beirut. Her performances have been featured at Spreepark Art Space, Literaturforum Brecht-Haus, and nGbK, among others. Her work has been shown at ISCP, New York, Extra City Kunsthal, Antwerp and Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai and Urbane Künste Ruhr.
Since 2014 Franziska Pierwoss in collaboration with Sandra Teitge has been staging dinner performances, for which as a result of an extensive research they gather specialists from various fields such as waste management or local politics and audience to engage in an in-depth conversation over dinner. Together they have presented different formats at MUAC,Mexico City, during Sharjah Biennial 13th in Beirut, Lebanon and Fast Forward Festival, Athens.
Together with Siska she initiated the KINO Projekt, a temporary cinema in public space screening amateur Super 8 films and artist's video works in cities including Beirut, Naples, Zürich and Minneapolis.
