No one is an island

Franziska Pierwoss
performative walking tour 2024
commissioned by Georg Kolbe Museum

in partnership with Bonhoeffer Haus

Franziska Pierwoss designed a performative walk titled No one is an island that begins at the Georg Kolbe Museum and leads to the Bonhoeffer House. Based on documents of Georg Kolbe’s estate, findings in her grandmothers basement, the leaflets of artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore as well as Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s involvement in the resistance, the event artistically explores topics such as civil courage, political activism and the limits of individual possibilities for action.

The walk was followed by a discussion in the Bonhoeffer House about the current reception of Bonhoeffer’s writings in the USA prior to the upcoming elections, accompanied by a culinary offering from the menu of the former Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City.
